The Olympic Games – In Azeroth!

August 8, 2008

Today is opening day of the Olympics, and if you play on EU or Chinese servers like myself, there are a few rewards you can get from the Battlegrounds!

One is a small Chinese Dragon non-combat minipet, and the other is a tabard. This seems to have had a huge effect on the Battlegrounds! When I logged on to Locuna today to grab the tabard and hopefully the minipet check out what I saw:

Evening Special: Getting Bored?

July 27, 2008

Today I was talking to a friend who plays a rogue, saying he was getting bored of WoW. I can see where he was coming from, end game content does get a bit repetitive. Here a few tips of mine for things to do when you get bored!

  1. Go Goldshire or Ironforge. If you idle in Stormwind or Shattrath, try going to Ironforge for a chat with all the things like the AH and bank, and get out out of SW. It sucks! Disney Land ftw, but not Disney Land’s Virtual Kingdom. If you fancy trying your luck in a duel or taking a swing at RPing, go for Goldshire.
  2. Go to a battleground. You’ll get bored after the second game of Alterac Valley you’ll be glad to be out of there.
  3. Sit back in guild chat. Play some music and have a nice session talking with the lads. Or Teamspeak if they’ve got it.
  4. Level a profession. Sure, it’s a waste of money. Sure, you don’t really need it, but it’s an achievement and there are some pretty cool things at the end of the tunnel.
  5. Don’t go fishing… for christ’s sake. People always say I love to go fishing to relax. How?? It’s so boring, I gave up when picked the profession up because after the third fish I caught I wanted to wrap the fishing wire around my neck and jump into the damn lake with all my plate gear on.

That’s about it, and when you’ve done it all, log off and go out and see your mates. When you’re ready, come back and you’ll be good to go raiding.

The Forums – End The Grind!

July 26, 2008

Yesterday whilst looking in the forums I found a rarther lengthy post by a Gnome named Blarx asking Blizzard to end the stupid grind. It’s mostly about BG’s and arena. I quote: “…it just forces us to numb our brains and take the beat.”

Personally, I don’t see the point in posts like these. Blizzard obviously isn’t going to change the game because of an essay about how it sucks. Although he speaks the truth, he obviously isn’t going to get anywhere.

The little Gnome Blarx then goes onto the fact that we pay money to do this: “Not like you make money forcing us to spend time in the game that no one enjoys…” “Even if you do make money from it, is it worth it? Why not put all focus on making the game as enjoyable and fun as possible, the way it should be.”

This is a valid point, but would we all pay our monthly fees if we didn’t enjoy the game? I don’t think so. His second point is good I guess, they should focus on more end game content rather than focusing on mid level stuff that we skip past maybe?

However, the second reply simply says: And then there is pve”. A whole discussion sparks off about that but then Blarrx fires in saying that his post was aimed towards PvP only… “I could make a whole new thread for PVE if you like but this”.

Well Blarx, thanks, but no thanks.
