Evening Special: We Have to Pay to Help Our Group?

July 15, 2008

Welcome to my first post in the ‘Evening Special’. The Evening Special will usually be my final post of the day, concluding blogging. So, expect anything!

I was thinking of what I could write for this evening’s post, unsuccessful, I put it off and went to WoW where there was an argument going on between two Gnomes, accusing the other of spamming their guild recruitment macro. Anyway, it just dawned on me, why do Paladins have to pay gold to buff others?

When I go and raid, I make sure I have at least 200 Symbol of Kings to buff people in the ‘greater’ way. I mean, how embarrasing would it be to have to ask another Paladin to give you some because you ran out? It happened to me once actually.. the only other Paladin in the group only happened to be the Guild Leader.. and hey, he only had to announce it in TeamSpeak but you know if he felt he had to then whatever…

So I make sure I buy at least 200. A stack of 20 costs 30s, so 10×30 gives a grand total of 3g. Doesn’t sound much, but you need them for instances and even BG’s too. So it adds up. Also don’t forget that to cast Divine Intervention (Which actually sacrifices ourselves!) you need a Symbol of Divinity. (I’m not trying to promote Wowhead here, I just love that site).

So, we know that to cast these amazing spells it costs a small amount of our hard earned gold. But what do we get from it? A better chance at downing a boss maybe, but if your guild practically farms Karazhan, do people even need the buffs? Well… I suppose. As a matter of fact, I was actually going to name this blog ‘buffmachine.wordpress.com’, but i thought ‘healdin.wordpress.com’ sounded cooler and sounded more to do with WoW.

That concludes my first Evening Special, sorry if it turned out to be a bit of a QQ session but I was just showing all the other poor, helpless pallys out there that they are not alone!

Peace out -

Josh.
